ASEAN – Amendment to the Annexes of the Asean Cosmetic Directive (ACD)
During the 32nd Meeting of ASEAN, an amendment to the Annexes of the ASEAN Cosmetic Directive is adopted.
In November 2020, the 32nd Meeting of the ASEAN Scientific Committee for Cosmetics took place. At this meeting, the amendment of the annexes to the ASEAN Cosmetic Directive (ACD) was adopted.
The ACD is an agreement between the ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) countries to harmonize the requirements of cosmetic products in order to reduce technical barriers to trade in the region.
This amendment involves 9 changes related to the Annexes of the ASEAN Cosmetic Directive:
- 4 new entries in Annex II (prohibited ingredients)
- Dibutyltin hydrogen peroxide
- Formaldehyde
- Paraformaldehyde
- Methanediol; methylene glycol
- 1 new entry and 3 amendments to Annex III (restricted ingredients)
- 1 amendment to Annex VI (list of permitted preservatives): Formaldehyde and paraformaldehyde are removed from the list.
