Canada – Consultation on Cosmetic Ingredient Regulations
The Government of Canada opens a consultation on the Regulations that modify certain aspects of cosmetic ingredients.
The Government of Canada is moving forward with plans to make health protection information easily accessible to Canadians. Specifically, their plans stem from chemicals in consumer products, including cosmetics.
It is proposed to introduce certain requirements to disclose fragrance allergens on cosmetic labels, when they are present above a specified limit.
This regulatory proposal would also modify the Cosmetics Regulation with the aim of:
- Add greater flexibility for the disclosure of ingredients present in cosmetics that are sold in small formats.
- Improve supervision of cosmetics:
- Clarifying the terminology and expanding the level of detail in the information presented in a cosmetic notification.
- Improving compliance and enforcement tools to address non-compliance with cosmetic notification requirements.
- Making changes of an administrative nature.
This consultation will close on April 22, 2023.
This consultation is published on the official website of the Government of Canada, which can be accessed at the following link.
