CANADA – Domestic Subsantces and Non-Domestic Substances Lists
During the entire course of 2020, 47 new substances have been added to the Domestic Substances List, and another 47 new entries have been added to the Non-Domestic Substances List.
Since 2001, cosmetic products have been subject to compliance with the New Substance Notification Regulation (NSNR), whereby every manufacturer or importer of a new substance is required to notify such substance before importing or manufacturing the substance in Canada.
The Domesitc Substance List (DSL) is an inventory of substances manufactured or imported in Canada. Those substances that are not listed on the DSL do not require notification unless they are subject to Significant New Activity (SNAc) requirements.
This year 2020, 47 new entries have been added to the DSL list.
On the other hand, the Non-Domestic Substance List (NDSL) contains substances that are not on the DSL but are included in the inventory of the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) of the United States. Substances that are not on the DSL but are on the NDSL are subject to minor reporting requirements.
47 new entries have been added to the NDSL during 2020.
